A large portion of the gulf of mexico and caribbean are already at 80 or above Fahrenheit. (27C = 80F )

Yes indeed Martin.

This is to due, with the lack of cold air this winter, which keep the gulf warmer than average during the winter so it is only natural we would have warm temps at this time as well.
