The state of Wisconsin gets the award for most extreme weather this week. Freak tornados with the unprecedented January thaw and now a return to winter.
Late Thursday and Friday the second system to push the warm air south will give 2-3 inches of snow to Iowa, NW Ill., and the SE third of Wisconsin. Winds may go ENE if they do then Lake enhancement could add another inch or two. What strikes me is the rapid cool down in the mid levels. Some convection may be associated with this system with locally moderate snow burst. Long Range models are coming into agreement for a series of Artic intrusions and Clipper systems in this area. Going to get cold man, real cold. An Er, from Steve would be nice to make sure he survived. Dyndrite |

Steve,
Glad you survived. I also saw a lot of flood reports. I am curious how you region faired with the rapid snow melt. I suppose if you are going to have a 150 year event you may throw in a 30 year flood. Also would like to know about that little snow event you had last night. Totals would be nice. I was surprised this morning to see temps in the 34 degree range. Maybe you can shed some light on this nocturnal phenomena. In December it was the Ice storms to the south in MO and OK and Kansas. January looks like Tornadoes And floods in your area to start. I saw the Tornado Outbreak coming but had no idea it would work that far north. Glad you are OK and Hope things settle down. Looking at the long range that may be asking a lot. Lot of cold air trying to head south and a storm track that may go back to a more North osculation as Highs move off the East Coast in 10-15 days. You guys may need to strap in. Dyndrite |
