An El Nino Winter..upcoming?

on an early fall? It was darn right chilly out last night. The temps dropped 15 degree's it seemed in just a couple hours. And 2 of my Maple tree's are turning. it just seems WAY TO SOON for the leaves to be turning !


So I'm wondering if any La Nina, or El Nino, could effect the climate "now" as far as the temps varying so much from day to night, showing it's effects on the leaves on the trees, changing so soon?

I have seen some leaves starting to fall from the trees in Wisconsin. But there is no nino or nina now. The nights are getting longer and at the same time the sun is still quite strong. So the difference in temperatures from day to night can under certain weather conditions be large. In this case cooler air has been moving down from the northwest behind a cool front and in advance of high pressure, which has lowered dew points and temperatures. That was the reason for your cool night, a local effect as opposed to something on a larger scale.

Some leaves are coming down here, but my guess is it is primarily fgrom dry conditions. I never thought I'd be saying that after our spring rains, but it is happening. It's turned pretty cool here and we are looking for temps to remain in the 60s here on Friday. This looks short term though, as temps should rebound nicely in about a week or maybe less.
