Check out that very strong high pressure system the GEM has in the Pacific. 600 dcm.

The GFS while not nearly as strong, still shows it being pretty formidable.

Backtracking just a bit, at 180 hours, a very cool 500 mb low is headed into the Great Lakes on its way to the Northeast, where if it verifies has the potential to bring some very cool autumn air into those regions along with some rain. Another system over the northern Rockies then follows suit. Even without closed lows at 500 mb, the mean low in the Pacific to the north of the high is full of enough shortwave energy to bring cool unsettled weather anyway. But without a Greenland Block, it should not be extremely cool.

2000 feet up. You'd be amazed by the wildlife up here. Deers, Bears, Ravens, Wild Turkeys, Snakes, Large cats that look like cougars/mountain lions , unusual looking insects. All of which I have seen in my yard at one time or another. And alot of it I have video taped. Regarding the large cats, my local newspaper here saw the video clips and were interested to do an interview. But I told them to hold off until I catch them on cam again with better video quality. Im still waiting for that sucker to come around again too... Last time I saw him was in the spring.

It was funny, this morning there were a pack of dogs (atleast 3) hunting wild turkeys.. I saw them running for them but that was the furthest I could see. Looked like a pit bull, german sheppard, and the 3rd one I couldnt ID.
