Latest depiction,

18Z NAM and GFS depicts high pressure over New England and Low Pressure over eastern SC late Thursday. Thermal dynamics in the models are above norms and should be colder in the cold air damn regions. Climatology dictates freezing rain .Upstate SC, western NC and south central Va.

Look at that subtropical jet, ain’t it pretty? Clouds gather in Texas.

Up-date

Oh what a difference a day makes. Storm running a little ahead of schedule with moisture return in Texas. Warm and dry winds west Texas temps in the mid to upper 60’s into Oklahoma. Dry air with dew points in the low teens.

This heat is going to play havoc with the Mississippi valley and has bumped the low level and mid level temps 2-6 degrees. Snow threat in this area is decreasing as we speak.

The dreaded secondary storm is going to form in Oklahoma and move NE pumping more warm air into Tennessee and points north and west of the mountains. Snow with this system will be 4-8 inches Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin.

High pressure in New England is looking bolder and stronger in the Ice Storm area. No change here, if anything a degree or two colder longer.
