We still have snow and sleet in Central Texas. I recon high pressure over the Mississippi valley is digging dry air south.
Dang, If this was easy anyone could do it. Dyndrite |

Latest data depicts snow and sleet falling in northern Louisiana. Maybe you guys need a lesson in evaporative cooling. that’s now.

18Z data depicts heavy rain in southern Ga and SC. Cold air Advection brings snow into the region Without convection lets move the moisture North.

Latest satellite info depicts upper level vort max moving NE out of Mexico. Surface low 150 miles east of Brownsville moving NE at 35 mph.
Radar data has moisture moving NE out of Louisiana. I will stay up for a while Latest surface data. Rain in N Louisiana Snow and sleet in Central Texas. I know we have all heard the term blocking pattern. If the low pressure center is held up in Southern Texas things will happen. Either it will wait or it will migrate north after Artic passage and a Dixie Blizzard will issue. Dyndrite |

dont quite follow about the blocking pattern, are you referring to the block like a -nao or is this storm getting blockd by something else; also why would the storm stalling cause a blizzard; dont mean to have so many questions but this stuff is really interesting; how close is the cold air at the moment to the carolinas; 9:34 pm 38.7 degress with a 38 dewpoint no wind and fog is forming also humidty is at 80% NW SC
Thanks... this is better than watching a movie! |

The reality is the blocking is the Artic intrusion. Just looked at the 00Z NAM and no Change. I was just speculating on why that moisture was taking its time moving out of Texas. Things could change.
I will Watch. 11PM is the next up-date Dyndrite |

Looking at the surface data, high pressure is building north of developing Low. This really could get interesting. I may take a nap but get up early am.
I don’t think the models have got a handle. The boys in Central Alabama just issued Heavy Snow Warnings. I think they smell a rat. Me too. Dyndrite |
