Will be watching an area of disturbed weather along the Gulf Coast. The Sub-Tropical jet is very active. Cold air is starting to move south

Area of showers along Gulf coast. Strong mid level disturbance moves SE out of Iowa. Surge of cold air moves SE behind it.
The only thing interesting is the potential interaction. The models say no. They have made a lot of good weathermen look bad lately so will keep an eye on it. Long range changes each run so will not go there yet. Dyndrite |

Cold air is heading south. Temps in Iowa are in the -15, -25F rage. That’s cold man, that’s cold. Reminds me of an old Tom T. Hall song, “It sure can get cold in Des Moines.”
Showers linger on the Gulf Coast as Front moves SE. Looks like a Low pressure area will form off Hatteras and move out to sea. How far east the low forms will determine the precipitation pattern. Only fly is the dreaded, “South Carolina trof.” This tends to form as Cold air banks on western slopes. We will watch it unfold today. Long range is coming into focus. Looks like a Northern Rocky Mountain Storm, with Major warm up in the Central US. They could use it, -25 is way too cold. Put a another log on the fire, relief is on the way. We hope. Dyndrite |

Well I just wish a computer model would come out and the precip fields had some bases in reality. Artic front moving into Tennessee. First surge is moving into western NC. Sharp clearing just west of my area. NE wind developing on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Disturbed weather still moving along Gulf Coast. Rain and sleet in Central Alabama. It should get shunned SE How much residual moisture will interact with Artic air on East Coast? 12Z NAM, no help. Dyndrite |
