This Historic Winter Storm Moves East.

Latest Satellite data shows impressive snowfall in Kansas, Nebraska as clouds clear and visible satellite data is observed.

Snow is starting to slowly move East with upper level energy as Rain has changed to snow in Central Ill. Expect 1-3 inches.

Heavy snow is developing in North Central Ill.. and it is snowing in my second home town of Rantoul Ill.. Snow will move east over Northern Indiana and Ohio. Cold air is starting to move into New England as upper levels cool expect rain to change to snow.

Coming up on the 27th anniversary of the President’s day Storm. This should be a time of great winter storms not Tornados and death.

System reorganizing over Eastern Tennessee. The original line is dissipating as energy moves SE out of Ill.

Expect thunderstorms to develop over Eastern Tennessee in response to dryness aloft. Areas of showers over North Carolina will dissipate. We cold be looking at a double squall line as trof relocates in western NC.

The bottom line is severe weather is most likely in Eastern Va. Eastern NC and SC

If the primary trof dissipates more rapidly then severe weather could move west. We do not want that. That is were I live.

Will monitor satellite data and see where the thunderstorms break the Trop.

Latest satellite data shows rapid dissipation of primary squall line with just enough rain to enhance surface moisture.

The front proper is in Eastern Tennessee. Cumulonimbus cloud visible on satellite pics in SW NC with dry cold air aloft. Winds in Hot Springs Va are out of the South west, they were west 1 hour ago, that shows the passage of primary squall trof, who needs a weather balloon

Correction.

That should have been Cumulonimbus Calvus, not Cumulonimbus. Alto-cumulus Costalantas visible in western NC

Moderate to heavy snow in Ill. And southern Wisconsin. Satellite date shows cold Air Aloft moving into Eastern Tenn.

Surface trof reorganizing in advance of frontal passage. Dry air has move east under surface front in eastern Tenn. as a result of evaporative cooling. that’s a good thang.

You bet I am watching this Storm as it passes my house. Peak wind, SW gust to 38, 20 NM SW of GSO.
