Oh, joy! Just what we need in Kenosha county, WI. After 12" last Friday, 6" Sunday night, now 14" on top of that. I sure wish I loved snow. Good thing we had that major thaw in January, or we'd be up to our rooftops in snow.

Latest surface data shows the mid-level energy just moving out of North Texas. It is going to start cranking up. Heavy rain and temps in the low to mid 30’s in central Ill. Moderate to heavy snow in Nebraska and Iowa. Storm Snow totals could approach 10-14 inches in this area. Lake enhancement on the western shore of Lake Michigan tonight and tomorrow.

Temperatures are quite warm in the South and Severe weather is a threat tonight from East Texas to Kentucky. Stay alert folks this could get ugly. Temps approaching 80 with dew points in the mid 60’s.

Looks like a Spring Storm

Up-date.

Thunderstorms developing Eastern Texas. Dry air aloft will enhance vertical development. Looks like a long night in the South.

*Stay alert for Tornado and Severe Thunder Storm Warnings*

This is a dangerous situation developing over Texas, Arkansas, Miss. Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Southern Ill. Indiana and Ohio.

Storm may be moving Warm air aloft further north. The surface system may not be moving further NW but the atmospheric dynamics are. Maybe the trend Steve spoke of yesterday.

A prolonged period of mixed pecip in the Chicago are will cut down on Snow fall totals in this area. With the dynamics moving further NW then areas of Iowa and Wisconsin will bare the brunt of heaviest snow. That’s you Traci.

Sever weather is still a major threat in the areas mentioned earlier.

Deadly night in the South…

I suppose snow and cold is a pain but I cant image anything more terrifying than a tornado in the dark of night. There are a lot of people that love winter weather, Spring Storms are scary and that is what that was. We forget sometime that a lot of people die every time a Major Storm develops and moves across the country.

Snow continues in the Storm areas of the Mid-west. Looks like southern Wisconsin and NE Ill and Michigan will get hammered today, brief break tomorrow then Artic Storm approaches region front NW.

Severe threat shifts to the SE and East coast. That would be me. This morning temps are the low 60’s. Thank God for those Appalachian Mountains. We don’t need any sunshine before that front moves past.

Looks like 7-9 inches of snow in South Central and Southern Iowa, another 1-4 today. Snow in Oklahoma, 1-2 inches is possible. Mo, Ill. and Wisconsin and Michigan will get hammered today as stated earlier.

Rain has changed to Snow in Chicago, Winds NE gusting to 30. Southern Wisconsin has picked up 3-5 inches so far. Expect another 6-10 inches today over this area.

Low temps this morning in the eastern Dakotas and Northern Minnesota are 15-20 below.
You guessed it, “That’s cold man, that’s cold.

3 Tornado Warnings currently. Looks like just a few high clouds as the sun starts to rise in Carolina. Good luck to us.

On the Snow side. Mid level energy is over extreme western Ill just east of the Mo. And Iowa border region moving east at 25 mph.

Snow banding and lake enhancement over Ill and southern Wisconsin throughout the day. No change to current forecast.

Thunderstorms are still active along initial squall line over Ga. And Alabama. Expect this band to weaken and second line to form later today. Dew points are at 60 in eastern Carolinas with sunshine. Things are quit now but Expect conditions to go down hill rapidly after mid day as we get toward max heating. Sever Thunderstorms and Tornados the major Threat.
