Default Midwest Disturbance 37-b

Energy entering the NW plains and heading SE. Several areas of low pressure along the Front Range. Temps rising in response to future storm in western Canada.

Satellite data shows mid-level system digging south east. Precip patterns are developing further west in Nebraska in the rain category as cold air has shifted east. Upper level warm front will progress east as disturbance moves South East.

Look for 1-3 in Iowa and Eastern Minnesota. 24 northern and central Ill., northern Indiana and Ohio then NE into Pa. and NY State.

5-10 in Eastern Wisconsin and Michigan. 1-2 in the mountains as far south as North Carolina mountains and foothills.

This will lay the foundation of, “The Big One.” Precip patterns including type and the computer ability to keep up is worth watching.

Computer models are not handling this system well. Dynamics are further west and south than forecast. This may result in winter weather in Tenn. Western Carolinas and Western Va. Next 48 hours.

Next 12 hours will let us know.

Latest 18Z NAM shows Artic air heading south in 48 hours. For the folks on the east coast I know it is cold already.

Precip aloft showing up in NE Arkansas and western Tenn. High pressure will move off east coast.

Snow will fall in the mid Atlantic. How much will reach the ground is the question. Good replenishment to snow pack west of the Appalachian as Artic air recedes and the big one moves in. Now let’s see.
