Default March 6-8th storm 2008

Actually, this a two sided storm. The first part of the storm has developed in the southwest and has dumped heavy snow in New Mexico and Texas and is now bringing heavy snow to Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri.
From there, the snow will be moderate with a 3-8 inch swath from Western Kentucky to Northwest Ohio.
What the computer models are debating is a monster second storm which is expected to move out of the Mississippi Valley and either east or west of the Appalachian Mts.
I live in Pittsburgh and I have winter storm watches just 30 miles to my west!
(METEOROLOGITS MUST BE PULLING THEIR HAIR OUT!)
The models have yet to agree where this monster second storm track will be because as we all know the first storm will drag colder air to the east.
The next 12 hours will be crucial for the Ohio Valley, especially people living in Pittsburgh!
Henry from accu-weather says 6-12 inches for Pittsburgh! Somehow, I cannot believe that statement! Let me hear your thoughts!

OK, I think I got this thing figured out.

Two Mid levels systems and Surface Low. Rain section moving across Alabama, Ga. And East and Southern Tenn. Snow Storm developing in SE Texas. Significant snow in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tenn.

High pressure will bank up against the mountains and trof will set up over the western Carolinas. Rain changes to snow showers over western North Carolina on Saturday. North Ga. And extreme up-state SC Friday night late. Look for secondary low pressure to form in the upstate of SC tonight. If Mid level disturbance moves 50 miles further ESE then heavy snow develops over the high country of the Carolinas and period of wet snow in western sections as energy moves NE.

Watch how far south the snow develops in Mississippi and Alabama today will tell the tell.

6-12 for Pittsburgh seems likely

Main mid-level energy moving ENE out of Louisiana. What will be the primary surface low is located 150 miles South of Tallahassee Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Show is about to start. They should get cranked up in the next 6-8 hours

Heavy snow warnings for NW Ga. And snow advisories for North Ga., good call. Will develop into upstate SC low and track NE to Central NC then North.

Looks like heaviest snow setting up just NW of Pittsburgh. Expect changeover by early AM then 4-8 inches.

Snow showers will work into central Ga, western Carolinas Saturday AM. Expect winter storm warnings to be extended up the Appalachians. Winds gust 40-50 mph as low deepens over central NC.

Ohio is going to get boomed 1-2 ft

Florida South Ga, and SC expect severe thunderstorms with Tornadoes Tonight.

Area of snow and rain with base of mid-level trof moving east northeast out of Alabama into North Ga. 1-3 inches of snow in this area. 2-4 inches SW North Carolina mountains. Cold air has been advected to the west and is moving in from the southwest.

Expect rain showers to change to snow showers across northern Ga. And the upstate of SC as the day progresses.

Low pressure will deepen over the Carolinas by mid-day. Winds becoming NW 20-25 mph gust to 50 with falling temperatures.

Heavy bands of Snow showers with some thunder over Ohio, Kentucky and Tenn. Total snowfall 1-2 ft over Ohio. Snow moves into western PA after freezing rain. Blizzard conditions will develop NE Ohio, Western PA and NY State. Buffalo will be hammered with 10-20 inches of snow in snow squalls this afternoon.

Things are going to get hot this morning. If you like storms this one is has it all.

Looks like mid-level trof is digging all the way to Florida on the satellite. Lets move the snow south to Atlanta. Rain changing to snow with a period of snow. ½ inch on the grass.

Anyone got any pop-corn.

Skies have become partly cloudy over western NC. Cumulus clouds at about 2000 feet with strong vertical development. Thunderstorms should develop. The sky is black SW. Winds Southwest 15 gust to 31

Snow heading into central Georgia. Upstate SC stand by looks like snow. Mid level energy 200 miles further south than forecast.
